Raimund Engelhardt


Lived in India for 14 years in order to complete a profound education of Indian classical music. He has been a disciple of the late Pundit Badri Maharaj a great master of the Banares style of tabla, as well as studying at different Universities in India. He performed with many renowned Indian artists as an accompanist for instrumental and - vocal music as well as playing with the classical dance style kathak and being a soloist. After he returned to Europe he integrated his talent into different musical forms such as: Jazz, contemporary music, medieval music, renaissance music, new age music and free improvisation projects. He composed music for his own projects as well as for theatre productions. Beside the tabla he plays the Swiss hammered dulcimer, a small version of the Hungarian cymbalon, plus lots of percussive instruments and the Afghani string instrument rabab. He has participated in many other international events and projects.
